The CEO of the ST IT group of companies and technology specialist Anton Averyanov shared his opinion about the Mamont virus, which began to spread through the Telegram messenger. In a conversation with RT, he described this virus as a “banal script” that poses a danger only when opening an infected file
According to the expert, if the user opens the file, the virus can take effect immediately or at any time later, which can lead to data loss on the device
Anton Averyanov explained that the Mamont virus is activated only after opening an infected file, which makes it vulnerable to prevention. “If the file is open, the device data may be at risk and cannot be saved,” he noted. The expert recommended that users be especially careful with executable files such as .apk or .exe, since it is through them that hackers can gain access to the device and its data
According to him, despite the potential threats, the virus itself is a simple script that is launched at the user’s request. “If you suspect your phone has become infected, turn it off immediately and contact a service center,” he added, emphasizing the importance of quickly responding to cybersecurity threats
