The Russian Ministry of Digital Development plans to develop a database of biometric samples of telephone fraudsters' voices to effectively combat cybercrime. This was announced by Minister Maksut Shadaev at the conference "Customer safety comes first."

About the news

Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maksut Shadaev announced the Ministry's plans to create a biometric database of votes of telephone scammers. This statement was made on November 19 at the conference "Customer Safety comes first", organized jointly with Vedomosti and Beeline

According to Shadaev, a set of measures is being developed as part of the fight against fraud, including the creation of this database. The integration of data from mobile operators who have information about calls will become the basis for the formation of a database. Expert Sergey Afanasyev noted that it will include the voices of scammers who have already made calls, which will allow them to be identified and prevent repeated attempts at deception

Expert commentary

It is planned that artificial intelligence will be trained to recognize the speech patterns of scammers and automatically interrupt suspicious connections. Anton Averyanov, CEO of the ST IT group of companies, added that the database can be updated with data on fraudsters found guilty, as well as information from banks about suspicious transactions

Experts emphasize the importance of ensuring the security of the database in order to prevent its leakage, which could lead to serious consequences for all participants. The database will contribute to more effective monitoring and prevention of fraud by law enforcement agencies and financial institutions
